Dickey knuckles D-Backs, Mets take series

I’m hyping R.A. Dickey to make the All-Star team.

The Mets knuckler took his fluttering pitch into the ninth inning in Sunday’s 3-1 win over the Diamondbacks, allowing the New Yorkers to take final two games of the series.

Frank Francisco nailed down the save, as two deep drives thankfully stayed in the park.

A day after going 4-for-4, Daniel Murphy drove home two runs in the first with a single, with Josh Thole adding one more later in the game.

Being the Mets, there was an unusual injury. Ruben Tejada stumbled as he neared first base and fell hard on his face – but suffered a strained quad.

Dickey improves to 4-1 and still leads the Mets in the number of memoirs published this season.

The Mets win brought out the Flag of Victory on an otherwise dreary and damp West Michigan afternoon.
