The batboy came up to him and put his hands out, jefferies dropped his helmet and then his batting gloves on the ground one by one forcing the batboy to pick them up as he didn't even glance in his direction. My dad pointed to him and gave me a really nice lesson of how not to be.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11386152.post-16481163543483894592007-12-02T16:36:00.000-05:002007-12-02T16:36:00.000-05:00GREGG JEFFERIES IS GREAT!!! So reviled in his own clubhouse that a teammate scribbled the phrase "Are we trying" next to Jefferies' name in the lineup card (legend has it that the perp was one Randall K Myers)...and the kid who charged the mound to attack Roger McDowell when Roger was with Philadelphia (in a bizarre scene where I'm sure many fans had no idea who to cheer for!)

Good ol' number nine.Metstradamushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18023215480704948183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11386152.post-1131739188867986992005-11-11T14:59:00.000-05:002005-11-11T14:59:00.000-05:00I was in a baseball card store in November 1988 an...I was in a baseball card store in November 1988 and was talking shop with the owner. He explained that the Jefferies card he had on display, which I think was going for at least 5 bucks, would always be able to fetch a premium because even if he doesn't become the big star we all know he's going to be, he's so famous as a result of being so hyped that his rookie card will always be in demand.

Then he tried to sell me what he swore was the Buckner ball. He was asking $185.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11386152.post-1131716284416747732005-11-11T08:38:00.000-05:002005-11-11T08:38:00.000-05:00I can just imagine Jeffries down in the minors pra...I can just imagine Jeffries down in the minors practicing his autograph over and over and over, not liking how the G's looked, scribbling it out and signing again over and over and over and then breaking down and crying.

I hated that Future Stars card.
